SARS: ITR14 Submission Issues [Micro / Small Business]

Issue: 
[23 June 2026] The following fields are incorrectly being stated as mandatory for Dormant companies prior to 2025:
– ‘Is the company an association of persons as contemplated in par (d) of the definition of company in section 1? is mandatory’
– ‘Is the company a non-profit company as defined in section 1 of the Companies Act? is mandatory’
– ‘Is the company a body corporate established in terms of the Sectional Titles Act, 1986? is mandatory’


[20 March 2026] The following additional issues has been picked up:
Companies with members (from 2025 YOA onwards):
Potential submission issues should any membership information be declared on a return.

Non-resident companies (all years):
The following schedule is incorrectly mandatory:
How many different classes of shares have been issued by the company?

Micro and Small (prior to 2025):
The following fields are incorrectly mandatory:
‘Does the company confirm that the company is registered with the deeds office?’
‘Does the company have members?’
‘Foreign Exchange Gain Amount’
‘Foreign Exchange Loss Amount’ ‘Foreign exchange loss adjustment (s24I) (excluding s24I(4))’
‘Foreign exchange loss adjustment relating to debt (s24I(4))’
‘Foreign Exchange Gain Adjustments Amount (Debt)’
‘Foreign Exchange Gain Adjustment Amount’


Dormant (all years):
Cannot currently be submitted via ISV

Medium to Large (prior to 2017):
The following fields are incorrectly mandatory:
‘Is the company a member of a Multinational Entity (MNE) group as defined in the Country by Country (CbC) regulations?’
‘Substitutive share for share transactions as defined in s43’

The following field is hidden, but validation is incorrectly picking it up:
‘Is the company part of a subsidiary group of companies as defined in s1?’

All forms (years prior to 2020):
The following field is incorrectly mandatory:
‘Deduction (s7F)’

[4 March 2026] There are currently 2 issues blocking some ITR14 submissions.
Issue 1: 2024 Micro and Small Business returns – Error message: SARS: Foreign Exchange Gain is a mandatory field. 
Issue 2: 2025 Micro and Small Business returns – Error message: SARS: Foreign exchange loss adjustment is mandatory

Affected Services: 2024 and 2025 Micro / Small Business ITR14 returns

Status
[23 June] Micro and Small Business issues have been fixed. The Dormant issues have been escalated to SARS
[20 March 2026] SARS is currently in a year-end freeze and will only fix the issues on the 17th of April 2026
[4 March 2026] We have escalated this issue to Interfront (the third party responsible for the link between GS and eFiling) for further investigation.

Fix Timeline
[23 June 2026] Micro and Small Business issues have been resolved, but we are still awaiting SARS confirmation on the timeline for the dormant entity fixes.
[20 March 2026] The issues will be fixed on the 17th of April
[4 March 2026] The issue is currently under investigation, and there is no confirmed date for a fix yet.

Workarounds
[23 June 2026] No workaround is required for Micro and Small Business submissions. However, dormant returns for years of assessment prior to 2025 should be submitted via eFiling if urgent.
