Introducing Microsoft Azure Single Sign-On for GreatSoft CRM.
We are pleased to announce that GreatSoft CRM will, in it’s upcoming release, support Microsoft Azure single sign-on using Azure Active Directory authentication both for our cloud hosted and on-premises customers.
How far we have come
Over the past year, since the South African government declared a national state of disaster and then the country going into various stages of lockdown, the IT landscape for South African businesses has changed or rather, been forced to fast track their remote capabilities.
From the adoption of remote communication tools such as Zoom and Teams, to virtual private networks (VPN) and the use of cloud services over self-hosted systems, it has been a significant step forward.
At the same time, this forward push in IT has also highlighted some shortfalls and gaps in IT processes.
Too many logins
Suddenly staff have to remember more logins to systems with varying levels of security. Two-factor authentication isn’t always supported, system administrators have to ensure accurate user access for multiple systems with potentially various usernames for the same employee.
As you can imagine this puts tremendous pressure on an IT team already dealing with constant challenges that come with supporting a business in the remote era, we are finding ourselves in.
Office 365 and Azure
Thankfully, many firms have moved to Office 365 and if you are still on the fence hopefully the recent data breach of self-hosted Exchange servers will provide the necessary incentive to make the move.
Microsoft provides every Office 365 business and enterprise customer with a basic Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) service.
This means that every staff member with an Office 365 organizational email address also has an account in Azure AD which they use to log into their email.
Microsoft Azure AD ticks all the security and compliance tick boxes making it the ideal solution to leverage to log into multiple systems (where supported) with a single credential.
This is similar to how you would use your Facebook account to log in to Instagram or any site that supports this functionality.
Microsoft Azure Single Sign-On with GreatSoft CRM
We are pleased to announce that GreatSoft CRM now supports Azure Active Directory authentication both for our cloud-hosted and on-premises customers.
Once activated your staff will be presented with the login with Azure AD button and simply enter their Office 365 credentials.
The bonus of being able to manage your organisation’s security compliance standards and manage user access all in one place certainly adds a bit more comfort to the IT team and staff members using GreatSoft CRM.
We at GreatSoft are looking forward to continued progress in the IT landscape and will continue to push to ensure we are right at the forefront of technology.
