SARS: eFiling Error

Issue: An error is causing delays in assessments being issued, for returns submitted via GS. The error, “There has been an error. Try again or contact us if the problem persists,” has so far only been reported for non-resident returns, though it is unclear whether it affects resident returns or all non-resident returns.

Status
[08 October 2025] SARS has resolved the issue, and all affected returns have now been assessed.
[29 August 2025] We have escalated this issue to Interfront (the third party responsible for the link between GS and eFiling) for further investigation.

Fix Timeline
[08 October 2025] A fix will be applied to all affected returns over the weekend of 3 October 2025.
[29 August 2025] The issue is currently under investigation, and there is no confirmed date for a fix yet.

Workarounds
[08 October 2025] A workaround is no longer needed. Submissions and the issuing of assessments are now working as intended again.
[29 August 2025] This issue is not occurring when returns are submitted directly on eFiling. Therefore, if there is an urgent need for an assessment, submitting directly on eFiling can be used as a workaround.
